Getting involved in the world of motorsports takes a lot of commitment, and the perfect dirt bike is required to learn about the sport effectively. That's where the 2014 Yamaha PW50 comes into play. The motorcycle has everything a young rider needs to get started on the trails, and its features make it one of the most appealing machines on the market today.

Powering the 2014 Yamaha PW50 is a relatively small engine with a displacement of 50 cc. The air-cooled, two-stroke, reed-valve inducted motor provides a moderate amount of oomph and is torque-tuned for efficiency. To better acclimate a young rider to the bike, it comes with a throttle stop screw, which can be adjusted to increase the power output as a child gets used to the machine.

Easy Beginnings

Its transmission is automatic and single speed, so kids won't have to worry about learning to manage the power as they familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of dirt biking. That same thought is echoed with the PW50's shaft drive system, which offers extremely low maintenance and easy ownership. The autolube oil injection system is also manageable, as the setup eliminates the need for premixing fuel and oil. Similarly, the mag-style wheels don't need constant tightening or spoke replacement, allowing owners to hit the trails without a second thought.

Not much power is needed to propel the bike. The motorcycle only weighs 86 pounds, so it's easy for smaller riders to handle. With a seat height of just 19.1 inches, a 4.1-inch ground clearance and a length of 49 inches, it's a compact dirt bike that will be comfortable for young kids while also providing them with the security they need to begin. The PW50's 10-inch tires offer great traction, while the telescopic front fork has 2.4 inches of travel for smooth, responsive handling.

Comfort and Style

The entire riding experience can be comfortable for young riders due to thick seat cushions and large, folding footpegs. Not only are both of these features optimized for comfort, but they are also equipped with extra padding and grips for security.

Despite its smaller size, the 2014 Yamaha PW50 has a professional style that will have smaller riders feeling like experts. Its colors are reminiscent of Team Yamaha, and the graphics and number plates look just like a much larger high-powered machine.
