There are plenty of touring bikes out there, but few can compare to
Harley-Davidson's offerings, especially the 2011 H-D Road Glide
Ultra. The unique styling sets the motorcycle apart from the crowd
from the get-go, and riding the bike makes it obvious that the
Ultra is one of the most versatile touring bikes to hit the market
in 2011. The Road Glide has been around since 1980, but this is the
debut model for the Ultra trim level, which packs additional
motorbike accessories to make the ride even more ideal for extended
trips.
The bike is pretty massive size-wise, and it weighs a whopping 888
pounds, but you'll hardly notice. The handling is dynamic and
responsive, making it second nature to weave through traffic and
navigate curvy roads. With an air-cooled, Twin Cam 103cc engine and
electronic sequential port fuel injection, there is plenty of
"oomph" for your next big adventure, and you'll be sure to
appreciate the 102 ft.-lbs. of torque that provide the growling
power you'd expect from any Harley.
When it comes to long-distance travel, the Road Glide Ultra offers
many advantages. First, you won't need to stop off at too many gas
stations, as the bike gets an impressive 54 miles to the gallon on
the highway. This drops down to about 34 mpg in stop-and-go
traffic. There is also plenty of cargo room so you can bring all
the supplies you'll need for your getaway. There are two hard-case saddle bags and
one rear-mounted storage unit with 2.26 cubic feet of space - each
of which is entirely waterproof, so you don't have to worry about
loading and unloading everything you own when you stop for the
night.
Harley included a new seat for the Road Glide Ultra that features a
deeper contoured bucket, which sits lower than seats on other
models. It is also designed to provide back support for the rider
and a passenger. The rear seat has a high back and wrap-around arm
rests so they can feel like they're riding in the utmost luxury.
The handlebars are wide-set to provide comfort to your arms without
sacrificing safety or control.
The Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra is, like most Harleys, a
reliable machine that will not break down at every turn. So you can
ride with confidence on a longer trip without having to pinpoint
every potential mechanic and dealership along your way.
