Kailub
Russell and his FMF/KTM teammate Charlie
Mullins took the top spots at the 11th round of the GNCC Series
at Power Line Park in Ohio.
According to Ultimate Motorcycling, Russell and Mullins started out
as two of the top three racers and were competing for the lead
after the end of the first lap. There was some back and forth
during the closing minutes, with Russell pulling away for the
win.
"We are very proud of both of our riders today," team manager Antti
Kallonen told Ultimate Motorcycling. "Russell also rode strong all
day and is very determined to keep his bike on the top step of the
podium in the final two rounds. The points chase is very close and
we expect it will come down to the wire."
Russell benefitted immensely from the win, as it put him only four
points behind Paul Whibley
in the championship standings. The two motorsports
riders should be the main challengers for the title, as third-place
Rory Mead is
nearly 70 points behind. With only two rounds remaining, both
racers will be looking to gain an advantage heading into the
penultimate event in Indiana later this month.
