Scorpion VX-9 lets kids ride too

Ask many of the greatest motorsports competitors when they got their start, and most answers will fall in the single-digit range. Getting a child a mini-ATV or bike can be a great holiday present, but parents worried about safety should consider bundling their gift with a helmet.

Motorcycle helmets have come a long way in terms of safety and comfort, but children have their own set of unique concerns and need a helmet that's properly fitted to their heads. The new Scorpion VX-9 series offers all the protection that parents could ask for.

The VX-9 is modeled after the VX-14 adult helmet and made of the same polycarbonate material. It also features a dual density EPS liner for added protection and comfort.

Parents know that kids have tons of stamina, so they'll appreciate the moisture-wicking liner designed to keep them cool in hot temperatures. Air vents on the side will be key for longer rides. Perhaps best of all, the helmet features a modular interface that allows parents to adjust its size to small, medium and large heads. That means the helmet grows as a child does.

Of course, kids won't likely care about all of those features, but they will be grabbed by the cool red and blue graphic designs that make the helmet look just like what the pros wear. A helmet with graphics retails for $99.95 with solid-color designs going for $89.95
