Yamaha Unveils FZ8 Naked Bike

Yamaha has announced their 2011 model lineup, which includes the debut of the brand new FZ8 naked bike.

According to the company, the FZ8 streetfighter will slot between Yamaha's similar street bikes, the FZ1 and FZ6R, which will also get 2011 models. The FZ8 has already torn up asphalt in Europe, where it has been a consistently popular model.

The FZ8 is designed to accommodate riders in an aggressive position, with footpegs moved back and down from their location on the FZ1.

The bike is powered by a 779cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected inline-four engine with forged aluminum pistons, fracture-split carburized connecting rods and ceraminc-composite plated cylinders. The impressive performance output is complemented by a manual cable-actuated clutch 6-speed transmission.

In terms of ride geometry, Yamaha claims that the FZ8 has a 51/49 front-wheel bias.

Yamaha says that the bike will "deliver smooth power delivery and gobs of torque in the low to mid rpm range, but this engine also lets loose with eye-opening horsepower when the revs climb toward redline."

The FZ8 will be available in motorcycle stores in December for an MSRP of $8490.
