Honda Issues Recall On California Model Fury

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Honda is recalling 2010 VT1300CX/A models sold in the California. Honda, in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, issued a emissions recall campagin. Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has determined that a defect that relates to emissions regulations exists in certain 2010 VT1300CX/A Fury motorcycles. On affected units, "Breather tube A" (a rubber hose elbow) may deteriorate and crack. This part is a component of the crankcase breather and PAIR systems. If the part fails in either system the motorcycle will no longer meet state and federal emissions regulations.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board. American Honda is conducting an emissions recall of certain Honda 2010 model year VT1300CX/A Fury motorcycles. Our records indicate you own one of these vehicles.

What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has determined that a defect related to emissions regulations exists in 2010 model year VT1300CX/A Fury motorcycles. Emission Consequence
A defective Breather Tube A will cause the motorcycle to emit excessive crankcase and/or exhaust emissions into the atmosphere, and the motorcycle will no longer meet state and federal regulations. Your motorcycle may fail a state or local emissions inspection if you do not have this recall repair done. It is very important that your motorcycle meet the mandated emissions regulations.

What should you do?
Please call your authorized Honda motorcycle dealer and make an appointment to have your VT1300CX/A repaired. Two updated "Breather Tube A" rubber elbows will be installed on your VT1300CX/A free of charge. Although the repair will take less than one hour, please plan to leave your VT1300CX/A for a day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.

Consequence of not repairing your motorcycle
The California DMV will not renew your registration until this emissions recall has been completed. After completing the repair procedure, your dealer will give you a Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction certificate. Keep this certificate for your records as proof that the emissions recall was completed. Submit the
certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. Please make sure the dealer completes the repair and gives you the certificate.
