My KTM owner's manual calls for 10W50, but I have numerous people tell me I can run 10W40 here in Texas with no problem. Any issue that you see?

Thank you for your inquiry Jim. If your KTM owner's manual calls for 10W50, we recommend that you run the 10W50. Viscosity is a number based upon temperature.... and the 10W40 may be "okay in your area" but if KTM recommends the 10W50, that is what I would run. Make sure that the other oil specifications are the same too! Viscosity is not the only important number. This Yamalube 10W40 This oil meets or exceeds the JASO MA requirements. But the Motorex 10W50 KTM uses is rated at : JASO MA 903:2006/ API SM, SL, SJ, SH, SG - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
