American Motorcyclist Association-sanctioned Supercross Futures Is New Advancement Platform For Monster Energy AMA Supercross, An FIM World Championship

PICKERINGTON, Ohio - The inaugural season of Supercross Futures, an AMA National Championship, got underway Jan. 13, the day after the second round of the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

The eight 2019 Supercross Futures events and the Supercross Futures AMA National Championship event replace the AMSOIL AMA Arenacross Series as the official advancement platform of Monster Energy AMA Supercross.

"The AMA has worked closely with Feld Motor Sports, the promoters of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, on the development of Supercross Futures," AMA Motocross Manager Alex Hunter said. "Supercross Futures events feature a racing format that will better prepare young riders for Monster Energy AMA Supercross competition."

The Supercross Futures experience is designed to produce a high quality, competitive stadium racing experience, with an advancement path to Monster Energy AMA Supercross competition. Eight events will take place on Sundays after select Monster Energy AMA Supercross events at the same venues where the stars of Supercross raced the previous night. The tracks will be raceable for all age and skill levels.

The eight events serve as a qualifier system to advance riders to the Supercross Futures AMA National Championship event in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 20-21.

In Supercross Futures events, riders earn Road to Supercross points toward obtaining their professional AMA Supercross license.

Feld Motor Sports is the AMA's promoting partner for Supercross Futures. Feld manages the promotional aspects of Supercross Futures, while the AMA develops the rules and recognizes class champions.

Feld Motor Sports also is the AMA's partner in one of the world's most recognized motorsports: Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.

"Advanced registration is averaging around 700 riders per event, which illustrates the strong demand for amateur AMA Supercross racing," said Feld Entertainment Director Bill Heras. "Riders range from 4 to 40 years old with 26 different classes being offered. Supercross Futures provides the perfect backdrop for up-and-coming talent such as Jett Reynolds and Ryder DiFrancisco to really hone their skills while also offering families, young adults, veterans and racing enthusiasts a unique experience that will last a lifetime or spark an interest in running the entire series."
