The Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team Heads To Budds Creek For The Penultimate Round Of Pro Motocross
With two rounds remaining in
the 12-round AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Monster
Energy/Yamaha
Factory Racing teammates Justin Barcia and Cooper Webb are chomping
at the bit as they continue to fight for top finishes in 2018. The
penultimate round, taking place this Saturday, Aug. 18, in
Mechanicsville, Maryland, will provide Yamaha bLU cRU
riders with two opportunities to give it their all at the Budds
Creek National.
Third overall in the 450MX Championship, Justin Barcia is prepared
to battle for every last position this season. The recently
announced 2018 Motocross of Nations Team USA member looks to build
upon his consistent performances so far as he strives toward
achieving a moto-win and overall victory before the season is
over.
Cooper Webb had his best performance of the season at Unadilla last
weekend, where he rode his
YZ450F to a fourth-place finish in Moto 2. The North Carolina
native considers Budds Creek a home race and he has high hopes of
locking down a top-five finish in front of his local fans, family,
and friends in Maryland.
Justin Barcia, 450MX #51
"For me, Budds Creek has always been good. I've been on the podium
a lot there and I've won overalls there before, so it's a great
place to go racing and I really enjoy the track. It's a shorter
start, so I definitely need to get a good jump and make sure I get
out front quick. I feel like I've got a good setup now, so I'm
looking for a little bit drier conditions this weekend, I felt like
Unadilla could have been really good but I had to deal with the
mud, obviously.
These last two races, for me, are probably the most important just
because I haven't accomplished exactly what I wanted to accomplish
this year. I definitely want to put it up on the podium but the
goal has also been to get a moto win and that sets me up for an
overall, so I'm definitely going into Budds Creek with a mission
and we need to accomplish that."
Cooper Webb, 450MX #2
"I'm looking forward to Budds Creek. It's a home race, so it's
always a special weekend for me. I grew up going there as a kid,
since I was about six-years-old, and it's the closest one to my
house so I'll have a lot of friends and family there. After
Unadilla, I'm having some more confidence and I'm feeling good for
Budds! I showed some top-five speed and the goal is to be back in
the top-five overall and maybe be closer to that podium. I'm
looking forward to it and I can't wait to see everybody there!"
