Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing's Justin Barcia Looks To Battle In The High Altitude This Saturday In Salt Lake City
The penultimate round of the
2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship is set to take
place this Saturday, April 28, inside of Salt Lake City's
Rice-Eccles Stadium with a daytime race schedule for the
second-consecutive week. The Monster Energy/Yamaha
Factory Racing Team is prepared for battle in the high altitudes of
Utah with riders Justin Barcia and Josh Hill looking to pilot their
YZ450F machines to a top position at Round 16.
With Barcia back on track for the third-straight weekend, the
Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team is pleased to welcome
Josh Hill back to its 450SX roster for the final two rounds as a
fill-in rider for the injured Cooper Webb. Hill made his 2018
Monster Energy Supercross debut with the team in Seattle in place
of an injured Barcia and the Washington native had a solid day
going until the muddy conditions took him down in the Main
Event.
Justin Barcia, 450SX #51 - Monster
Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team Rider
"I'm out here in California
right now doing some motocross testing and riding and I'm feeling
really good heading into the weekend. My body is feeling better and
better every day, my hand is good and I just need to show up 100%
on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to Salt Lake City, I think
it's a good fit for me because I really like racing in the
altitude, it doesn't bother me at all. I just need to get some
solid starts and get that bike up front because the bike is
definitely capable of winning, I just need to put it in the right
place."
Josh Hill, 450SX #751 - Monster
Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team Fill-In Rider
"After Seattle SX, the guys at
Yamaha were gracious enough to get me hooked up with a brand new
YZ450F and help me get some really good supercross suspension
on it so I could get some practice in. Originally, I was thinking
about trying to get ready for Las Vegas SX, just to go have fun and
put a dry race under my belt since Seattle was so muddy, but
unfortunately Cooper Webb had a big get-off in Minneapolis and he's
not going to be able to compete and I was lucky enough to get the
call to come and fill-in for him for the last few remaining races.
I'm really excited about the opportunity and hope that the extra
weeks of preparation and being able to get acclimated to the Yamaha
will hopefully pay off in results at the end of the day."
