2017 Supercross Season Quick Preview And Tracks Revealed
The 2017 Supercross
season is already heating up to be one of the most exciting race
series in the last few years, and there is still two months to go
before the flag drops. As always is the case before the season
starts there have been quite a few changes amongst teams and
riders. Most notably, 2016 Pro Motocross 250 National Champion and
two time 250 Supercross Regional Champion Cooper Webb will make his
450 debut aboard the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Chaparral
Motorsports/Yamaha Financial Services/Yamaha Factory Supercross
YZ450F. Webb
will be joining returning Factory Yamaha teammate and multi
championship holder,
Chad Reed.
Fresh off of winning his second National 450 Pro Motocross
Championship aboard a Suzuki RM-Z450, Ken
Roczen will be riding a brand new 2017 CRF450R
as he joins up with the Factory Honda HRC team. One of the most
threatening factory teams for the 2017 season will definitely be
the Red Bull KTM team as they field returning riders, reigning 450
SX champ Ryan Dungey, returning team rider Marvin Musquin, and new
teammate Trey Canard. All three will be piloting KTM 450 SX-Fs.
Musquin could have a break out year after finishing his rookie 450
SX season with a 7-place overall finish, a third place MX series
finish, and coming off an outstanding 4-0 run (beating out teammate
Dungey in the final race) to win the overall in the Open Class this
past weekend at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm event.
Of course we can't count out returning Monster Energy Kawasaki
rider Eli Tomac. Tomac has had an awesome past couple of months
aboard his KX 450F. He
wrapped up the 2016 Pro Motocross season in second overall, then
took first in the MXGP of Americas in Charlotte as well as first in
the MXGP at Glen Helen, and then won the 2016 Monster Energy Cup
earlier this month in Las Vegas.
Below are the track renderings for the 2017 season. We can't wait
for the fireworks to fire off in January; it's going to be a
thrilling season of racing. The series will visit a couple of
cities that have been out of the mix for a few years such as
Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Minneapolis (which will host the
series at the brand new U.S. Bank Stadium). Of course the season
kicks off at Angels Stadium in Anaheim and then heads south to San
Diego before returning to the Big A and then shooting over to
Glendale, Arizona. Four races will be held in California with the
series heading up to Oakland in northern California before making
its way east to cities such as Arlington, Atlanta, Daytona, and
East Rutherford before finishing up back in the west in Las
Vegas.
