Harley Davidson Models
The phrase is usually "Christmas in July," but if you're a die-hard Harley-Davidson fan then you know Christmas comes in August--that's when The MoCo releases its new model lineup to the masses. Well, merry Christmas your presents have arrived.
You already got a sneak peek of some of your presents at the start of the month when H-D brought the 2015 Road Glide back into the lineup after a year's absence, debuting two new versions of the RG at Sturgis. The punk rock sibling of the touring lineup, the Road Glide has always been on the fray amongst its bat wing brethren, appealing to a crowd that is more into sleek, aerodynamic lines rather than billboard flare. Similar to the Rushmore baggers, the Road Glide has a brand new vented fairing to improve airflow and reduce buffeting. After extensive wind tunnel testing the engineers decided to incorporate additional vents on the sides of the Dual Reflector Daymaker L.E.D. headlamps to further enhance rider comfort with airflow and reduced wind turbulence. To make up for the fact that there were zero Road Glides last year, Harley offers three iterations of its 2015 version with the Road Glide, Road Glide Special, and a CVO Road Glide Ultra. What makes the Road Glide Special so "special" compared to the base model is that it comes with:
- Boom! Box 6.5GT infotainment with color touch screen and GPS navigation
- Gloss or denim black painted inner fairing
- Hand-applied pin striping
- Premium Ride hand-adjustable rear suspension
- Reflex linked brakes with ABS
- Smart Security
Of course the CVO version takes things even further with a 110ci Screamin' Eagle Twin-Cooled Twin Cam 110 engine which features a combination of air and liquid-cooling strategies to maintain peak performance. Long-haul touring amenities include a Tour-Pak, 13.5-inch touring windshield, lower air deflectors to direct wind flow to the legs, dual-control heated seat with perforated leather pattern as well as heated grips. Highlighted by an exclusive paint scheme, the bike is drenched in chrome with a host of Airflow Collection accessories, an exclusive 1.25-inch diameter handlebar, and mirror chrome custom Slicer wheels.
Other 2015 Model Highlights include:
The New Freewheeler Trike
Sleeker and sportier looking than the its elder siblings, this new trike may help drive even more traffic to three wheel motorcycling with its youthful appearance. With a brand-new rear section accentuated by parsed bobtail rear fenders, the Freewheeler is lighter and shorter to up the fun factor and improve overall handling.
New Braking System for Softail Models
A new braking system for Softail models delivers improved modulation and responsiveness and decreases hand lever effort by 40 percent. ABS is now standard on all Softail models and optional on the Slim. New front brake components include a rigid four-piston fixed front brake caliper with 34 and 32mm pistons coated to minimize initial displacement, brake pads with high-output friction material, a new master cylinder with a higher mechanical ratio, and a new 300mm front brake rotor. The caliper and master cylinder have also been restyled to enhance the looks of each model.
Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low / Ultra Limited Low Motorcycles
The ultimate in premium motorcycle touring, the Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low and Ultra Limited Low offer versatility, comfort, and safety with an ultra-low seat height and reduced reach. Both models feature a seat height of 25.6 inches that allows for more riders to firmly place both feet flat on the ground when the motorcycle is stopped, while a new low-profile motorcycle seat helps reduce the reach to the foot controls for more confidence in emergency situations. These two models sit 1.7 inches lower than the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic and are the the lowest of any premium touring motorcycles on the market today.
CVO Street Glide Motorcycle
Boasting a new Boom! Audio system backed by 600 watts of power streaming through four bi-amped front and rear three-way speakers, this limited-production bagger is a rolling concert venue that delivers shocking volume and outstanding sonic quality. The CVO Street Glide is topped off with an intricate paint scheme and the added exclusivity of four color options.
New paint
Eight new paint options include:
- Custom colors
- Black Magic and Radioactive Green
- New Hard Candy Custom metal flake colors
- Cancun Blue Flake and Quicksilver Flake
