Lotus Motorcyles C-01

Just like car enthusiasts, motorcycle enthusiasts love looking at prototype machines and getting a glimpse into the creative minds of their favorite manufacturers or designers. The only thing better than a prototype model of a motorcycle or computer generated rendering is the real deal, which is exactly what we have here with the sleek and aggressive Lotus Motorcycles C-01.

While the C-01 may have Lotus badging, it wasn't designed or produced by the high end luxury sports car manufacturer, it was created under the leadership of Kodewa in collaboration with car designer Daniel Simon and the Holzer Group. Kodewa licensed the Lotus name to create a line of high-performance superbikes.

Sporting sanitary bodylines and a fighter jet-like stance, the C-01 is comprised of top quality materials such as carbon fiber, titanium, and aerospace quality steel to create a light-weight machine. By combining a dry weight of just under 400-pounds with a tuned version of the KTM RC8R 1195cc, 75-degree, V-twin engine-capable of producing a claimed 200hp-Lotus Motorcycles has created a road rocket that is bound give riders and spectators alike a case of whiplash.

For those that have instantly fallen in love with the C-01 and are already gathering up their motorcycle riding gear, you better act fast and whip out the wallet to get your name on the short list. Lotus Motorcycles plans on creating an exclusive production run of only 100 bikes. While production will be extremely limited, the plus side is according to Lotus Motorcycles, "the C-01 will be available in a range of liveries some of which pay homage to Lotus' sporting pedigree." And for those that just can't fathom the idea of pulling their already extremely rare C-01next to an identical one in the valet drive at the Ritz Carlton, Lotus Motorcycles will be offering owners the opportunity to muck-up a pristine piece of high-performance, functional art with their own customization ideas.

While the price for the C-01 hasn't been listed on the Lotus Motorcycles website, it's safe to say if you can afford a C-01 you can afford a carbon fiber motorcycle as well.
