Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Set For This Weekend

Many people outside of the motorsports world may have a stereotypical view of some motorcycle riders, but events like the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride aim to change that while benefiting a good cause. The ride focuses on classic bikes, retro designs, custom builds and bobbers, and it encourages participants to dress in a style that matches these machines to create a one-of-a-kind event.

At the heart of the event is a group of riders who dress in vintage clothing and attempt to raise money for charity. Participants are asked to find sponsors who will donate to their ride, with all proceeds from the event going to organizations that focus on prostate cancer research and awareness, Motorcycle.com reported. Motorcyclists who raise the most money at their respective rides will receive prizes, including packs loaded with motorcycle gear, and those who bring in more than $100 for charity will also take home some gifts.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride only began in 2012, but it is already growing by leaps and bounds. It is expanding from 64 cities last year to 110 in 2013, and the events are spanning into nearly 40 countries around the world.

Riders can get in on the action when The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride kicks off Sept. 29.
