Ryan
Villopoto has been on a tear recently, and it has finally paid
off. When he takes to the track in Indianapolis, Indiana, this
weekend, the Kawasaki rider
will be carrying the number one plate - marking the first time this
season a rider other than Davi
Millsaps is in the top position.
Villopoto claimed his fifth win in 11 rounds at the previous
Supercross race in Daytona, and in doing so he pulled himself in
front of Millsaps in the points standings. There's only two points
separating them, however, and a strong showing by Millsaps this
weekend could launch him back to the front of the pack.
"Well, Daytona was the worst race of the season so far, [so] I got
that out of the way," Millsaps said. "Now it's time to climb my way
back up to the top. It's Supercross. It's going to happen. Others
guys had bad races and now I just got rid of mine."
Both riders will have to look out for competitors like Ryan Dungey,
Chad Reed and
Justin
Barcia, who have been some of the fastest finishers in every
race this motorsports season.
