BMW Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary With Classic Bikes

BMW Motorrad will celebrate 90 years of motorcycle manufacturing in
2013, and in order to mark the special occasion the company is
issuing three limited edition bikes. The motorcycles will be the
R1200GS Adventure, R1200R and the R1200RT, which have all been
among the most popular and acclaimed BMW offerings, Auto Evolution
reports.
Rumors have been swirling about the bikes for months following the
release of spy photos of one of the models, Motorcycle.com reports.
Several fans believed the company would debut the machines at one
of the international motorcycle shows it attended, but instead BMW
chose to release limited information about the anniversary
models.
While most of the details about the anniversary bikes have yet to
be announced, the teaser images and information point to a roadster
that uses the classic engine BMW made its name with - not the newer
version on other 2013 models. More information about the
anniversary motorcycles is expected to be released in the coming
months.
The manufacturer first began creating motorcycles in 1923, when it
made the R32, a 486cc Boxer Twin bike, Motorcycle.com reports. BMW
may have started as an aircraft engine maker, but it has
transformed itself into one of the premier producers of bikes,
motorcycle
accessories and automobiles.
