Riders For Health's Online Charity Auction

From September 3-10 the charity organization Riders for Health
sponsored their biggest ever online auction in order to raise money
for health care workers in Africa.
The lead item at the auction was a 2010 Yamaha
YZF-R1 motorcycle. This customized bike has been ridden by
famous racers such as MotoGP's Cal
Crutchlow, Moto2's Scott Redding and World Superbike champion
James
Toseland.
Featured items included street bike riding
gear and motorcycle
accessories, many of which have been signed by some of the
biggest names in motorsports. Memorabilia from riders
such as Valentino
Rossi, Jorge
Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa,
Andrea
Dovizioso and Ben Spies were
available to bid on.
Other prizes included tours of the Sky Sports studios in London and
the opportunity to watch races live from the broadcast studio.
As the official charity of MotoGP and the FIM, Riders for Health is
striving to provide health care workers in Africa with motorcycles
and other four-wheel vehicles to aid in transportation around rural
communities. The organization then trains the workers to ride and
maintain the bikes for optimum safety and use.
Riders for Health reports that its efforts have improved access to
health services for 12.5 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, and
this auction is another way to help the motorcycle community give
back.
