As motorsports seasons begin
to wind down, several teams are announcing new signings for next
year's competitions.
Earlier this week BMW Motorrad announced that Chaz Davies,
the reigning World Supersport Champion who just took home a win for
Aprilia in Germany, will be racing for the BMW superbike team in
2013.
"We are happy that we can welcome Chaz to the BMW Motorrad family,"
said Andrea Buzzoni, general manager BMW Motorrad Italia. "On his
way through the ranks, Chaz showed how talented and fast he is. His
title win in the Supersport World Championship in 2011 was
impressive proof of that."
The young British rider will be joining Marco
Melandri on the 2013 FIM world championship team, setting up
what is sure to be a very competitive BMW squad.
In other racing news, Cycle News reported that Ryan Villopoto has
signed a multi-year deal that will keep him with the Kawasaki team.
The two-time Supercross champion has struggled recently with
injuries, missing the entire 2012 outdoor season, but still has
accumulated an impressive Supercross resume. He will be joined on
the Kawasaki team by current teammate Jake Weimer.
