The Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park was the setting for the finale
of AMA Pro Racing, and it provided plenty of dramatic finishes to
cap off the season.
The 250 class was set up to have the most dramatic race of the day.
Four riders started the event with a chance to take home the title,
but when the dust settled it was favorite Blake
Baggett who sat atop the point standings. His first and second
place finishes in the two motos helped the Kawasaki rider earn his
first professional title.
"I came out swinging today," said Baggett. "I knew I would either
go to the front, or it would all go down the drain. The first moto
was crazy battling with Justin
[Barcia] and Eli [Tomac]. In
the second moto, I got a horrible start and I don't even know, I
couldn't even see. I just needed to get to the front and finish as
good as I could, so I did."
Ryan Dungey
won his 10th consecutive victory to emphatically confirm his 450
class title, which he wrapped up several weeks ago. In the women's
championship, Ashley
Fiolek surprised points leader Jessica
Patterson to come from behind for the championship win. This
marks her fourth title in five years.

The newly crowned 2012 Lucas Oil Pro
450 Motocross Champion, Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey,
earned another impressive overall victory after claiming both moto
wins at the final round of the season held at Lake Elsinore
Motocross Park.
The Lake Elsinore racing facility is the newest addition to the
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series and created a fair
playing ground for all riders as the track was newly designed and
had never been ridden in its race day format prior to the
national.
Ryan Dungey got off to a decent start in the first moto and was
sitting in 4th position around the first corner. Near the halfway
point of the race, he made the pass on Mike Alessi to
take over the lead. Despite the hot temperatures, Dungey persevered
and went on to take the first moto win.
The second moto was almost a repeat of the first. Dungey got off to
a top five start, and within a few laps found himself into the
lead. Once out front, he stretched his lead and went on to take the
second moto victory and his 10th overall win of the season.
"It has been a great season," stated Dungey after the race. "It was
already an honor to earn the championship but it feels great to end
the season on the best note possible by taking the win. I want to
extend my sincerest thanks to my team for all of their hard work. I
am looking forward to the start of a new season and working with
Red Bull KTM for 2013."

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Marvin
Musquin earned the final podium spot in the Lucas Oil Pro 250
Motocross class at the final round of the series held at Lake
Elsinore Motocross Park. His teammate, Ken Roczen,
finished 6th overall for the day.
Marvin Musquin got off to a great start in the first moto, taking
the holeshot and the early lead. He battled inside the top three
for the first half of the race before dropping to 4th position
around the halfway point. Once in 4th he remained close to the top
runners and maintained a consistent pace to keep the leaders within
view. Meanwhile, Ken Roczen, who suffered a crash off the start of
the first moto, had worked his way from 39th to inside the top ten
by the halfway point. He used the remaining laps to pick off as
many positions as possible. He eventually climbed up to 6th place
by the end of the moto. Musquin held on to finish 4th.
In the second moto, both riders got off to mid-pack starts. Musquin
quickly moved up toward the top five while Roczen was 9th after the
first lap. Musquin was turning quick lap times right from the start
and moved up to 3rd position by the fourth lap. At the halfway
point he was sitting as high as 2nd before he lost the position to
Blake
Baggett. Once back in 3rd, he rode strong and maintained his
position. His 3rd place result in the second moto helped secure him
3rd overall for the day. Roczen moved from his 9th place position
on the first lap, to 7th at the end of the moto to earn 6th overall
for the day.
Both riders, who recently announced that they have re-signed with
KTM for the next two years will now return to their homes for a
quick break before beginning training for the 2013 AMA Supercross
Lites Series.

JDR/J-Star/KTM rider Malcolm
Stewart earned his season best finish with a 5th place overall
result at the final round of the Lucas Oil Pro 250 Motocross
Championship held at Lake Elsinore Motocross Park.
Stewart got off to a great start in both of his motos, sitting
inside the top ten. In the first moto he was sitting in 10th place
around the first lap and maintained a steady pace to pick off
riders throughout the race. By the end of the 30 minute plus
two-lap moto he had climbed to 7th position.
In moto two, Stewart got off to an even better start and was
sitting in 4th place at the end of the first lap. He dropped to
10th on lap two, but quickly regrouped and began to climb forward
once again. By the end of the moto, Stewart had put in an
impressive ride to climb past Ken Roczen and
take 6th place in the final laps. His 7-6 results earned him his
season best finish with 5th overall.
"It feels great to get a good finish at the end of the season,"
stated Stewart. "We have been working really hard to put in two
solid motos and it finally paid off. I wish it would have happened
sooner but it is a good feeling to end the season with a good ride.
I hope to carry this momentum into my training and return for the
2013 season prepared to fight for a podium position."
