Antonio Cairoli, Jeffrey Herlings, Win French MX GP
Going into the French GP, KTM rider Antonio
Cairoli told the press he wasn't completely satisfied with his
bike. After changing some of the dirt bike parts, Cairoli silenced
any doubt with a strong performance in the FIM Motocross MX1
class.
Cairoli won both motos during the weekend to extend his points lead
over the rest of the field. Cairoli's wins were never really in
doubt, so much of the attention turned to the battle for second and
third place. Christophe
Pourcel and Gautier Paulin, both French riders for Kawasaki,
went head to head for these two spots. In the end neither could
gain an advantage on the other - Pourcel took second place in the
first race and third in the second, while Paulin did the exact
opposite. Pourcel is now in second place overall, but still
approximately 40 points behind Cairoli.
Meanwhile, in the MX2 class, it was Jeffrey
Herlings who came out on top to make it a KTM weekend in
France. Herlings won the first moto, but could only manage a
second-place finish against Tommy Searle in the second. Searle
finished third in the first race, meaning he had to settle for
second place for the weekend.
