Honda's Grant On The Shelf Again

Honda's Grant on the shelf again

One of the toughest things for professional motorsports competitors to overcome is a string of injuries. That looks to be a recurring theme for Honda rider Josh Grant, who just can't seem to stay healthy.

Grant sat out the entire 2010 AMA Supercross season with an injury, but returned to compete in the AMA Motocross season later in the year. He was having a good run, but crashed again, putting him back on the shelf and forcing him to miss the final three weeks of the season.

Grant eventually got healthy again and was looking to have a successful 2011 Supercross season with Team Honda. He posted a top 10 finish in his first race back at Anaheim, but then once again crashed at the next race in Phoenix.

Although the injury to his knee was initially thought to be minor, Grant elected to undergo surgery to repair the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Now, reports indicate he won't be back until early summer.

"The team fully supports Josh's decision to undergo surgery to repair his ACL," said American Honda Racing Team Manager, Erik Kehoe. "Instead of trying to struggle along and continue racing at less than 100 percent capacity, he's made a smart decision to have the corrective surgery done now so he can make a full return to racing later this year."
